Danish Tutors & Danish Lessons

Danish is spoken by six million people including communities in the USA, Canada, and Greenland. It is a close relative of Swedish and Norwegian, so speakers of either language can understand Danish as well. Danish follows the classical Latin alphabet with a few exceptions. Compared to English, Danish has three extra vowels: Æ, Ø, and Å. Overall, its 19 vowels can be pronounced in six different ways, and consonants are often pronounced so softly as to be undetectable to the untrained ear. Our expert Danish tutors will help you excel at this language.

In spite of its limited natural resources, Denmark has a strong economy based on agriculture (which accounts for 60% of the nation’s landmass), tourism and transportation. Denmark also has the lowest employer costs and social security rates in Europe. Culturally, the nation is best known for its impressive architecture and furniture design. One of the key characteristics of Danish culture is ‘Hygge’ which means finding comfort, pleasure and warmth in simple things. Denmark is also consistently ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world!

The non-profit Danish company CLAVIS offers courses and exams in Danish across four levels. All of the exams are prepared by Denmark’s Ministry of Education and are state-controlled. They can be taken at test centres across Denmark, and include an oral and written section. You can also take the Denmark Citizenship Tests here.
