What are T Levels?
T Levels are the newest post-GCSE courses that have been developed and created through the collaboration of employers and educational practitioners. T Levels are the equivalent of 3 A levels (Similarly to BTEC Level 3 courses) and run for 2 years. The T Level courses have been developed with industry relevant content in mind, preparing learners for the industry that they are pursuing work within and promoting further training and study in the subject area. T Levels are designed through a combination of classroom and industry environment learning, through a placement of 315 hours approximately across 45 days. Due to the recent creation of these courses, they are still available at select colleges, schools and education providers across England, so researching your local areas educational institutions will give you some insight into T Level course availability. With the rise in T Levels, students finishing their GCSEs will be able to see the courses as a viable choice for their further education studies. Students finishing their GCSEs will be able to select from T Levels alongside apprenticeships, A Levels and other qualifications including BTEC courses for their FE education.
How are the Department for Education promoting T Levels?
The Department for Education (DfE) is developing a larger selection of T Level courses to enable learners to benefit from an improved quality of post-16 level 3 qualifications. By developing T Levels, the DfE is providing learners who want to experience a balance between on-the-job and in classroom learning with a defined academic route, ultimately helping learners to find a progression route to skilled employment or further study. Apprenticeships and T Levels are both built on the same standards, designed by employers and approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (the Institute). However, though T Levels are similar to an apprenticeship, T Levels prepare students for a multitude of different pathways (including further training, further study and employment), apprenticeships are usually 80% on-the-job based and 20% classroom based, tailored towards learners that wish to earn money whilst learning, ready to start working at 16.

What are the benefits of studying T Levels & T Level Tutors?
T Levels prepare students for a multitude of different pathways, including further training in the skill area, further study in the subject area and employment in the skilled industry. This means that learners are able to experience Further Education, which is similar in respect to classroom learning, and equally challenging in respect to on-the-job learning and training. Learners on T Level courses can apply the theory that they learn in the classroom within the select industry, creating a higher meaning to their learning. Learners on T Level courses are also able to consider further learning, encouraged to weigh up their options and equally explore them whilst on the course.
What are the requirements when studying at T Level?
T Level Students are expected to participate with a technical qualification and an industry placement with an employer in the appropriate field. Students who have not achieved a grade 4 in Mathematics and English at GCSE will be required to study alongside their T Level work. However, learners that do not achieve either a grade 4 in English and Mathematics or a Level 2 in functional skills are no longer required to do so to pass their programme.
What will my final grade certificate mean?
Learners who have completed their T Level will receive a nationally recognised certificate to present their overall grade and what they have achieved throughout the course. The overall grade will be shown as a pass, merit, distinction or distinction*, with a separate grade for the core component using the A* to E grading scale. A separate grade will also be given for each specialism area covered, again shown as a pass, merit or distinction. The certificate will also establish that the industry placement and any other mandatory requirements have been met. The overall grade will be calculated based on the core component and occupational specialism grades of the individual. Learners that do not pass all of the elements on their T level will receive a T Level statement of achievement, recording the areas the learner has completed.
